How to change the SONY VAIO VGN-AR DC POWER JACK 073-0001-2115_A CJ124


Here is the SONY VGN-ARxx Series Disassemble Instructions. After reading this post, you will understand how to change a DC Power Jac for your SONY laptop.
    Before we start this work, I think you need a screwdriver.
    OK, let's begin.
Battery
HDD Door
RAM Door
step 1. To prevent any kind of cosmetic damages and scratches; place your PC upside on top ofa soft surface. Sliding the latch and remove the battery in the direction of the arrow


step 2. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked screw, remove the HDD Door as the arrow shown.

step 3. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked screw. Remove the RAM Door as the arrow shown.

Memory
HDD
step 4. Gently pull apart tabs and remove the two memories.

step 5. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked six screws.

step 6. Gently pull out the marked cable from B-CAS card board and remove the B-CAS Card board.

step 7. Gently pull out the marked cable. Remove the HDD.

ODD
Keyboard
step 8. Use a screwdriver to remove the three screws. Remove the ODD as the arrow shown.

step 9. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked four screws.

step 10. Remove the K/B cover as the arrow shown.

step 11. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked four screws and pull out the marked cable.

Bottom
step 12. Remove twelve screws from the Bottom Housing.

         Note: This screw undermeath the HDD door is significantly shorter than the other screws securing the Bottom Housing.

step 13. Remove the Bottom Housing.

TV card
step 14. Remove the marked two cables. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws.

step 15. There are three types of TV card as follows.

step 15-1. This is TV card for JP.

step 15-2. This is TV card for EU.

step 15-3. This is TV card for US.

AUDIO BOARD
step 16. Remove the Audio Board.

step 17. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked screw.

step 18. lift the Audio Board up and to the left

step 19. Disconnect the Audio Harness as shown.

AUDIO HARNESS    
VIDEO HEAT SINK
step 20. Remove the VIDEO HEAT SINK and Cooling Unit.

step 21. Remove the AUDIO HARNESS. Note the routing of the cable.

step 22. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws, then lift the VIDEO HEAT SINK up.

HDD Power Board Harness
Bluetooth Module
Cooling Unit
step 23. Remove the HDD Power Board Harness.

step 24. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked screw, then remove the Bluetooth Module.

step 25. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked four screws.

step 26. Remove the Cooling Unit Cover.

step 27. Disconnect the Fan cable and remove the Cooling Unit from the system.

step 28. Use a screwdriver to rotate the screw 180 degree. Gently remove the CPU.

RJ-45/RJ-11 HARNESS
Power Switch Board cable
step 29. Remove the RJ-45/RJ-11 Harness, Power Switcha cable, Microphone cable, TOUCHPAD cable and DC JACK Harness.

step 30. Lift the RJ-45/RJ-11 HARNESS up.

step 31. Disconnect the Power Switch Board cable.

Microphone calbe and TOUCHPAD cable

IR Board HARNESS
step 32. Disconnect the Microphone cable.

step 33. Disconnect the TOUCHPAD cable.

step 34. Disconnect the DC JACK HARNESS.

         Note the routing of the DC Jack Harness

step 35. Disconnect the IR Board HARNESS.

Mother Board
step 36. Remove the Mother Board.

step 37. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked screw.

step 38. Lift the Mother Board up from the right side and remove to the right.

AV Function Board
Power Switch Board
step 39. Remove the AV Function Board, Power Switch Board, FeliCa module, LED Board, IR Board, TOUCHPAD Board, RFF and DC JACK HARNESS.

step 40. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws. Then, remove the AV Function Board.

step 41. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked three screw. Then, remove the Power Switch Board.

FeliCa Module
Touchpad Board, LED Board and IR Board
RF
step 42. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws. Then, remove the FeliCa module.

step 43. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked three screws. Then, remove the LED Board and IR Board.

step 44. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws and remove marked cable. Then, remove the TOUCHPAD Board.

step 45. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws. Then, remove the RF.

step 46. Remove DC Jack HARNESS. Nothe the routing the DC JACK HARNESS.

Audio Door
DC jack Harness
step 47. Use a screwdriver to remove the marked two screws.

step 48. Remove the Audio Door.

step 49. Pull out the DC Jack Harness.
